We Code - Women's Hackathon

Web designers and developers of all levels are invited to work on a fun project in small teams at this creative and collaborative coding event with other women in tech.

T-SHIRTS, PRIZES AND FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED.

Please bring your own laptop as we will not have extras.

The Challenge:

Build a creative website or mobile app that embraces, encourages, and inspires diversity using public API’s and open source technology.

Eligibility

Women of any level of programming experience are encouraged to join.

Teams will be selected to include a mix of experience levels and skill sets.

This is meant to be a safe and welcoming environment open to all without discrimination.

Although this list cannot be exhaustive, we honor and respect diversity in age, culture, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, race, religion, sexual orientation and technical ability.

Requirements

What and how do I submit?

Must sign up at http://wecode.challengepost.com/ (public voting also requires you to sign in under your own account)
Submit your screenshots, videos, and/or presentation there along with the following:

team number and name
description of your project
list of additional features you would add if given more time
identify the target audience
describe how each team member contributed

A zipped up folder with the working source code on a thumbdrive (to be provided) or link to a github repository
A readme file with the necessary instructions to open the app and perform the necessary steps to use the app/site
Each team will be given up to 3 minutes to pitch their project

What is required of the application?

The application should not contain any third-party proprietary code and it is the Participant’s responsibility to ensure that the submission does not infringe or violate any third-party rights.
Publicly available frameworks, APIs and open-source code that has been available for at least two weeks is allowed but otherwise all code must be written during the event.
The project must be a working website or mobile app. It may run locally on a laptop or can be deployed to a publicly viewable environment.
Ensure that each team member has a voice - collaborate and have fun!

Individuals/teams retain ownership of their own code. Nike judges will review the finished code but will not keep it.

This is a code challenge not a security hacking event.

Creativity and Innovation
The project should meet the challenge in a unique way and solve a problem that is not being addressed by currently available software products. It should offer a fresh perspective and utilize data, content, or technology in a new way.
Benefits and Impact
The product should demonstrate the potential to improve the lives of its target market, as well as the ability measure these results.
Consumer Experience - (design, ui, ux)
The content and features provided by the product should be presented to your target audience in a way that is easy to use, approachable, and aesthetically pleasing.
